Our History

The Fenelon Falls & District Chamber of Commerce was incorporated in 1977 and our role in the community has evolved and grown over the years. The current day Chamber team of staff and volunteer Board of Directors lead a number of efforts to create a vibrant, growing  welcoming, and diverse community for our members, partner organizations and residents.

Position: Seasonal Community Development Officer

Dates: May to August

Hours: 35 hrs/week in person (must be able to work weekends in July & August)

Wages: $17.50/hr 

As the Community Development Officer you will work with the Chamber Manager; 
  •  build relationships with business & community leaders
  • connect with visitors at the Tourism Office
  • lead the summer Tourism Ambassador program 
  • organize community events
  • create social media content
  • research green initiatives + write grant proposals
  • support the work of the Chamber

Community + Business Events (all events are free to attend)

  • Kawartha Lakes Country Living Show - premier trade show hosted every April 

  • Easter Eggstravaganza - family friendly event on Easter weekend

  • Moonlight Madness - enjoy our downtown with late night shopping + activities as we welcome summer 

  • Santa Day - a volunteer committee hosts this blockbuster event the last Saturday in November

  • Passport to Christmas shopping promotion - shop + dine at your favourite businesses during the holiday season and win great prizes

Community Projects

  • Colborne Street (main street) reconstruction - community liaison with the City of Kawartha Lakes Project Team

  • Summer beautification - hanging baskets, bridge baskets, planters and flags on the TSW Lock 34 Canal

  • Holiday decor - during the winter season the village lights up with holiday decor downtown + bridge greenery to bring a festive feeling to the village

Tourism

  • Visitors are welcomed year round at our Tourism Office located along the TSW Canal 

  • Summer Tourism Ambassadors are ready to help you plan your visit, find local attractions or give suggestions for local food + shopping

  • Discover Fenelon Falls on our Explore Fenelon Falls website + social media platforms

Member Events

  • Networking, Learning and Cocktails + Conversations events throughout the year

  • Small Business Week event

Advocacy + Community Partnerships

A key component of our work is building strong relationships with community organizations, Kawartha Lakes Chambers of Commerce, City of Kawartha Lakes staff and the member organizations of the Kawartha Lakes Ecosystem (KLEN). 

As a member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce our advocacy efforts are magnified to provincial and federal levels.
