Bijou

We would like to share with you our new family member and her name. Our previous 13 year old Golden was named “Fenner”, after Fenelon Falls. Many times we were asked by total strangers how that name came to be. Everyone understood and loved her name. Shortly after her recent death, we were able to welcome this 8 week old fluffy nipper to our home. She came from the same reputible breeder/vet Fenner came from.

Now we have to devise a new (2 syllable) name possibly incorporating a theme again of Fenelon Falls. After much discussion, we decided on “Jewel”. Everyone knows how this relates to our wonderful town. Wait, there’s one more twist to this.

Many people are not aware of the French involvement when this community was first settled. It is our belief Fenelon is a French name. With all this in mind, we opted for the name ”Bijou”, Jewel in French.

"Elle est le Bijou des Kawarthas”. Hope this makes you smile and we are looking forward to sharing her name whenever asked by total strangers.
