Fire Hydrant Rescue

Do you have a fire hydrant near your home or business? If so, Kawartha Lakes is asking you to help us rescue our fire hydrants from being buried in the snow. Obstructed fire hydrants can create a delay in fire fighting operations. The Ontario Fire Code mandates that fire hydrants be maintained free of snow and ice and need to be readily available for use at all times.

Your shovel and a few minutes of your time could help save a life.

Show your fire hydrant some extra love by shoveling some space out around it so that emergency workers can see and access the hydrant easily in the event of an emergency. Please help us assist Water Staff and the Fire Department in keeping all Kawartha Lakes fire hydrants free of snow and ice.

Your hydrant and municipality thank you!
