Have You Heard the Word About Lovin' it Local?
What’s your favourite local gem? Is it a store? A restaurant? An artisan? A beautiful place? How much do you know about the diverse and interesting opportunities offered by the our local businesses? Whether you’re a business owner, a customer, a chef or a someone eating delicious local grub (or anyone and everyone in between!), we invite you to join us in participating in the Lovin’ it Local campaign!
The Lovin’ it Local campaign is a collaborative effort between The Fenelon Falls & District Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Bobcaygeon & Area Chamber of Commerce, the Coboconk, Norland & Area Chamber of Commerce, the Haliburton BIA, the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Lindsay BIA, and the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce.
The goal is to encourage residents of these regions to explore their hometowns and discover more about the incredible and unique people, places, businesses and local gems that help shape our area. With COVID interrupting tourism and cottage season, it’s more important than ever to rally our support for our local economy!
So how do you get involved in Lovin’ it Local?
I’m a resident. How do I participate?
Check out the website, www.lovinitlocal.ca. You’ll find professional photos, articles and beautiful video interviews with business owners located across the Kawartha Lakes regions. There’s also some photo tours of each region, showcasing the incredible beauty that this area has to offer.
But most importantly - just show some love to your local businesses! Shop in-store (if possible to do so safely), use curbside pickup, have a ‘staycation’ in a local hotel or rental, encourage your friend to have their business participate in Lovin’ it Local, try getting takeout from your favourite restaurant, use a store’s online shop.
As Brandy Watson of the barn and bunkie explains in her interview, “When you support a small business, in any small town, it goes directly back into your small town because we employ the local people and we buy the stuff from locals.”

I’m a business owner. How do I participate?
Firstly, all business that are members of the listed Chambers of Commerce are welcome to join at anytime, it’s completely free, and you can start asap! Go to www.lovinitlocal.ca and locate the button called ‘Toolkit’ in the upper right hand corner. It’ll take you to a graphic design website called Canva, where you can personalize the specially designed graphics to suit you and your business. Use the graphics on your social media, in store, in your email blasts - however you’d like!
