Fenelon Falls Seniors Centre Hosts Spring Workshop

As we happily anticipate the official arrival of spring in a few weeks time, why not plan to celebrate by attending the “Re-connecting With Life” workshop? It will take place Thursday March 24th, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fenelon Falls Seniors Centre, 58 Murray St. Fenelon Falls. This event is funded through the New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Guest speaker will be Maureen Pollard, a registered social worker with 30 years experience working with individuals, families and groups. Maureen operates a private practice in Cobourg, Ontario, specializing in grief, trauma and resilience – all topics that are appropriate as we put the last 2 years of the pandemic behind us.  The workshop will focus on moving forward to recapture our energy, vigour and zest for life as we re-engage in various social activities.

The workshop agenda will include a talk on “Renewal: Hope and Healing in the Wake of a Pandemic”, followed by small group discussions on participants’ own experiences with the pandemic. Focus will be on how to get back into life, despite the fact that COVID may always be with us.  The morning will wrap up with a creative activity to help us start moving forward and the workshop will conclude with a hot catered lunch.

The workshop is free but in lieu of a registration fee, donations to the Fenelon Falls Seniors Club would be appreciated.  Attendance will be limited to 60 participants; pre-registration and proof of vaccination will be required to attend.  The event will also adhere to any COVID protocols still in effect at the time of the workshop.

Please contact Doreen Boville, HKPR District Health Unit at dboville@hkpr.on.ca or call 1-866-888-4577 ext. 2323 by March 14th to reserve your spot. We look forward to your participation in what promises to be a very uplifting event with great conversation, fun activities, good food and even a few door prizes!
