A New Family Doctor For Kinmount, Trent Lakes, Kawartha Lakes & Haliburton County

The Kinmount District Health Services Foundation (KDHSF), along with Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative (KLHCI), Haliburton County and Peterborough County (Trent Lakes) is pleased to share that Dr. M. Van Der Leden will be joining the healthcare team at the Kinmount and District Health Centre (KDHC).  Dr. Van Der Leden grew up in Eastern Ontario and is returning from the U.S. where she has practised medicine for several years.

KDHSF appreciates the assistance of the three local family doctor recruiters:  Lori Richey (Peterborough County), Wendy Welch (Haliburton County) and Cindy Snider (City of Kawartha Lakes). All three wish to state, “We congratulate the KDHSF for all their hard work on the recruitment of Dr. Van Der Leden. It has been a pleasure to offer our assistance to KDHSF throughout the process.  We are thrilled that another primary care physician has joined this high needs area.  We will continue to support Dr. Van Der Leden as she settles into practice.”

Dr. Van Der Leden plans to join Dr. Ponraja in seeing patients at the KDHC starting in early February 2025.  She notes that she is looking forward to returning to Canada and to serving patients from the region at the Kinmount District Health Centre.

Anyone wishing to become a patient of Dr. Van Der Leden is invited to add their name to the wait list by clicking on this link:  https://forms.gle/tnYDLfSVDnwMXSby9 or going to www.kdhc.ca.

We ask that you do not contact the Kinmount District Health Centre directly as all intake of patients will be done through this new wait list.  For those that do not have access to a computer, paper forms can be picked up in both Kinmount pharmacies and placed in the outdoor mail slot at KDHC.

The KDHSF would like to thank the community for their invaluable support which makes physician recruitment and retention possible. The Directors of the Foundation continue efforts to increase the healthcare team at the KDHC in order to meet the needs of our growing community.

The Kinmount District Health Services Foundation is a registered charity comprised of community volunteers who work to support and expand the healthcare team at the Kinmount and District Health Centre. You are invited to visit www.kdhc.ca for more information about both the KDHSF and the KDHC.
