A Thousand Acts of Kindness … and Counting

In the aftermath of the recent ice storm, something powerful—though not surprising—shone through the cold and chaos: the unbreakable spirit of a community determined to rise above adversity. Here are just a few inspiring examples.
⚡ Hydro workers who travelled from other provinces and regions of Ontario to support our local hydro teams who continue to work diligently to get us fully restored.
🚑 First responders and health care professionals who cared for our community in the midst of the chaos.
🍽️ Restaurant owners extending their hours to provide a place for people to get a warm meal or work remotely.
🛠️ Service providers going above and beyond to support their customers, even while dealing with limited business infrastructure themselves.
🏪 Business owners and community members stepping up with whatever they had—equipment, generators, and more—to support those around them.
⛽ Individuals purchasing gas or groceries for someone when their payment card didn’t work.
🧲 Lending a metal detector and joining the search party to find a hydro worker’s phone that held key restoration data.
🏛️ Elected officials and municipal staff responding to ever changing needs.
🙌 Thanking the hydro crews with signs, cheering, or snacks and coffee.
🧹Individuals and families walking through their neighbourhoods to check in on others, lend a hand with debris cleanup, or simply offer a bit of comfort and support.
🏡People generously opening their homes to offer hot showers, warm meals, and a place to recharge—both devices and spirits.
👷♂️ Business owners and employees working long days to support the recovery efforts while their own hydro was still out.
This list captures just a glimpse of the countless acts of kindness and selflessness shown in response to the ice storm. While cleanup and recovery will continue for some time, let’s take a moment to pause, reflect, and recognize how far we’ve come together. 💛
