FENELON FAIR ORGANIZERS LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER GREAT FAIR!
Members of the Fenelon Agricultural Society are excited about the enthusiasm that continues to build towards the 2025 "Fenelon Fair" which will be held July 18, 19 and 20 in Fenelon Falls.
"Ever since the signs went up promoting this year's dates we have been receiving more inquiries than ever by both e-mail and phone" says First Vice President John Lester. "There really does seem to be a high level of interest again this year" he said.
History records that the Fenelon Agricultural Society was established in 1888. Early Agricultural
Fairs were an important part of social activity in the community and gave the rural and urban residents the annual opportunity to come together. lt was their chance to show off their best cattle, horses, poultry and sheep and also gave their families a chance to compete with their neighbours in friendly competition for such things as Sewing, Baking, Crafts, Hay, Grain and Vegetables. Many of these traditions remain a part of the Fair in 2025 including a special "Junior Arts and Crafts" Division for the kids as well as added competition for such things as Art & Photography.
"As times changed so did Fairs" says Lester. "We still have most of the traditional competitions, but now these mainstays are enhanced with an increased focus on entertainment with such things as the Demolition Derby, Farm Tractor and Truck Pull, Lawn Tractor Pull, and great musical entertainment on stage". An exciting "Democross Event".(a cross between Demolition Derby & Motocross) has been added for Saturday afternoon at 2 PM.
Lester goes on to point out that the Entertainment Stage is another main focal point of the show and this year will feature performances by North Country Express, lnspired 2 Dance, Boots of Hazard and Faye McGee's Nail Driving Challenge all back by popular demand. . Children's Pedal Tractor Pulls, Children's activity tent and free Horse Drawn Wagon rides will take place both Saturday and Sunday.
The Fair is pleased to welcome Cope Amusements Midway, costumed characters, vendors, and food booths. Those 13 and under get in to the Fair absolutely free, and each one of them attending will receive ballots to enter FREE DRAWS for a chance to win one of two bikes donated by Grimsby Tire of Bobcaygeon and by Cope Amusements.
Advance "Pay One Price" Midway coupons may be purchased in advance for $25.00 and they are currently on sale at Barn & Bunkie, White Cottage Caf6, Curious, & Alliance Agri-Turf. For the first time this year pictures of the rides along with any rider specifications have been placed on the Fair's web site so people can check them out in advance.
"We try to stay as modem as possible but still strive to maintain that feeling of an old fashioned Country Fair where the community comes together”, says Lester.
