From the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society

Our general meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 24th! Please join us for a very informative and enjoyable gathering.

Our guest speaker will be Stephanie Kidd.  Stephanie began to garden while she was in school for design at George Brown College and, after finishing her education there, she stayed in the horticulture field.  She is a red seal certified horticultural technician and has been involved in garden installations for private residences as well as for many public spaces including Yonge and Dundas Square, the Ontario Science Centre, Princess Margaret Hospital and the Gardener Museum, to name only a few.

Stephanie will be teaching us about Hugelkultur (translated as “mound culture”), a horticultural technique where a raised planting area is built from (ideally) already rotting plant debris and wood, and then covered with compost and soil.  Used for centuries in Eastern Europe and Germany, usually as part of a system of permaculture, Stephanie will guide us through the process.

Everyone is welcome to attend this presentation for free.  Meet at 6:30 at the Senior Citizens Club (58 Murray Street, Fenelon Falls) for carpooling or at 7:00 PM at Stephanie’s farm at 2266 Glenarm Road.

Please bring a lawn chair and feel free to bring your own refreshments if you wish.
