Healthy Aging; Embracing an Active Lifestyle
Aging is inevitable. It’s a function of time. There are no guarantees for healthy aging; but researchers and health professionals agree that there are things we can do and habits we can adopt that impact our quality of life. Do you want a positive outlook, a strong, healthy body, and good cognitive function well into your senior years?
On Thursday, February 15 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the Fenelon Seniors Activity & Event Centre is holding an event on Healthy Aging; Embracing an Active Lifestyle. Learn from our panel of experts actionable steps we can take to improve and maintain a healthy body, mind and spirit. The panel of local health professionals and practitioners includes Leslie Ballam (Registered Nurse), Tessa Lang-Larson (Manual Osteopathic Practitioner), Dr. Dan Nighswander (Chiropractor), Tina Harrington (Registered Psychotherapist) and Sara deRuiter (Client Support from the Alzheimer’s Society).
Many people are aware of the importance of diet and exercise. The discussion will also explore other important factors such as social engagement, motivation, purpose and personal connections. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions by email and in person at the event. Email questions to hlecraw@gmail.com or fenelonseniors@gmail.com.
In addition to the panel discussion, there will be community groups and organizations with information displays and demonstrations of resources and services for better health. Advance registration is recommended. Email fenelonseniors@gmail.com or call 705-887-7007 or drop by the Centre at 58 Murray Street, Fenelon Falls. Cost is free for members of the Fenelon Seniors Centre and $5/person for non-members.
