Community Raises over $33,000 in Support of Hospice Services at 21st Annual Hike for Hospice

KAWARTHA LAKES, ON – On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes Foundation hosted its 21st annual Hike for Hospice event, drawing community members from across the region in support of local hospice and palliative care. Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, and donors, the event has raised $33,492.40 to date—surpassing its original $30,000 fundraising goal.

Held at Community Care’s new location at 21 Angeline Street North in Lindsay, the event featured a community walk that was both meaningful and heartwarming. Participants gathered for opening ceremonies at 1:00 p.m., with many walking in memory of loved ones or in appreciation of the compassionate care received through CCCKL Hospice Services.

“For many, this event is deeply personal,” said Ryan Alexander, CEO of Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes. “We’re truly touched by the turnout and the show of support from the community. Every donation helps ensure that high quality palliative care and grief supports are available locally for those who need them.”

Last year, the Hospice team supported over 800 individuals through life-limiting illness and/or grief.  Through over 9,500 service interactions, members of our community were offered a caring hand, a listening ear, support in navigating through an incredibly difficult journey, and so much more. These services are supported in-part through community donations and the dedication of CCCKL’s highly trained staff and compassionate volunteers.

This year’s Hike for Hospice was made possible thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, which included Economy Wheels Nissan, Lakeland Funeral and Cremation Centre, Remedy Rx, Cintas, CA Sellers and Unity. CCCKL extends its deepest gratitude to these partners and all who contributed to making this year's Hike a success.

Donations in support of Hospice Services are being accepted online until June 10th at www.hikeforhospice.ca. Anyone wishing to make a donation to Hospice Services after this date can get in touch with the Foundation at 705-324-7323 or foundation@ccckl.ca.
