Keeping Fenelon Falls Natural---What Can Gardeners Do?
Residents of Fenelon Falls are still fortunate to experience the beauty of natural landscapes. In contrast, remnant natural areas in most of southern Ontario have numerous invasive plants that are crowding out native vegetation (e.g., Dog-strangling Vine, Garlic Mustard, Common Buckthorn). Escaped garden plants are the number one source of invasive plants in Canada, and gardeners in Fenelon Falls can make a difference by choosing plants that will continue to protect our surrounding natural areas. This presentation with guest speaker Silvia Strobl will: Familiarize you with several common garden plants that can escape and invade surrounding natural areas, and Help you take action to control common garden escapes, and choose native alternatives that offer similar beauty.
