Join us for the Inaugural Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival
There’s a new event on the outdoor winter sports scene!
The inaugural Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival presented by Snowshoe Canada will occur on Sunday, February 1st, 2026 at Eganridge Resort Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
This is a totally inclusive event. Everyone regardless of age or ability is welcome.
The purpose of the event is to encourage local area citizens to get outside in winter and get some exercise at a beautiful four-star resort in the Kawartha Lakes region.
The festival agenda will include a snowshoe run/walk or trail shoe run/walk on groomed trails on the resort golf course in the morning, followed by family fun activities in the afternoon.
The snowshoe running option will serve as the Canadian Championship for Snowshoe Canada and is also part of the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series. The Snowshoe Canada annual champions trophy will be presented to the overall Male and Female winners of the 10k and 5k snowshoe run. A total prize purse of $1000 will be available to top finishers. Attractive wooded age group medals will be handed out in the Snowshoe running and Trail shoe running events in both the 5k and 10k events.
All participants will receive a custom-designed high-quality buff along with a wood finishers medal and gourmet hot lunch in the Tree Top banquet room overlooking Sturgeon Lake.
The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario.
In the afternoon, we will have some outdoor family fun activities, including tobogganing, snowman making, and snowmobile rides courtesy of the Twin Mountain Snowmobile Club. We will also have a cozy bonfire on the outdoor patio and some live music playing during the afternoon courtesy of local artist Shannon Rozell.
The inaugural Kawartha Lakes Winter Festival promises to be a fun day of outdoor activities for all ages and abilities.
