Little Lakers Night Returns on July 11 at Lakers’ Final Regular Season Home Game

Call Little Lakers Night a repeat win, that’s sure to score plenty of family-friendly fun at the Peterborough Lakers’ final regular season home game.

Five Counties Children’s Centre and the Peterborough Century 21 Lakers are teaming up again for the second annual Little Lakers Night on July 11. While the Lakers play the Brampton Excelsiors on the lacrosse carpet at the Peterborough Memorial Centre that night, the team is also rolling out the welcome mat to many Five Counties kids, clients and families.

“Our first-ever Little Lakers Night was a great success, and we’re pleased at the generosity of the Peterborough Century 21 Lakers to again partner with us on Little Lakers Night 2.0,” says Scott Pepin, CEO at Five Counties Children’s Centre. “Not only will the game feature amazing lacrosse action, many members of our Five Counties family will also play starring roles throughout the game.”

Besides cheering on from the stands, Five Counties families will take part in the ceremonial pre-game ball drop and enjoy a behind-the-scenes experience with the Lakers. Dozens of Five Counties kids and families will also enjoy free tickets to the game – something they have done all season through the Five Counties Ticket Assist Program courtesy of the Lakers and their generous sponsors Imprinted Apparel and White Cap.

“Five Counties has played a big role throughout the years in our family, and we’re grateful to have this incredible Centre serving families in our community,” says Len Powers, a Five Counties ambassador and Peterborough Lakers’ board member. “The Lakers are very proud to support the Centre’s work and are very pleased to again host Little Lakers Night on July 11.”

Game tickets to Little Lakers Night are now available through the Memorial Centre box office. Fans are encouraged to support Five Counties kids and their families, while cheering on the Lakers as the team prepares for a long playoff run in their quest to win a 19th Mann Cup national lacrosse title.

Families can join in pre-game festivities on July 11 starting at 7 pm – an hour before game time. Facepainting for kids by donation, the sale of freezies, pass the bucket, and the chance to buy commemorative Little Lakers Night T-shirts in support of Five Counties are all on tap. Five Counties will hold a silent auction during the game that lets people bid on items that include: two tickets to Canada’s Wonderland, Crayola Prize Pack and jewelry from local artist Valerie Davidson.

New this year for Little Lakers Night is the debut of a specially designed warm-up jersey created by a local youth that Lakers players will wear during their pre-game warmup session. These jerseys, sponsored by Merrett Home Hardware, will then be available for sale in an online auction.

All proceeds from Little Lakers Night will support Five Counties’ Building Abilities for Life campaign, which allows more kids and youth in the region to access life-changing treatment services that they need when they need it. In 2023, the first-ever Little Lakers Night netted $6,784 for the Building Abilities For Life campaign.

This year’s Little Lakers Night is being sponsored by Merrett Home Hardware, Discovery Dream Homes, Pinchin, and IG Wealth Management.
