Mending Fences - Globus Theatre opens its 20th Season with a Heartwarming Comedy by Norm Foster!

Countryside, cattle, and family ties … these are the topics that feature in the first show of the season at Globus Theatre in Bobcaygeon as they bring to the stage Mending Fences, a touching and poignant comedy written by renowned playwright and Order of Canada recipient Norm Foster. A tale that weaves through generations of misunderstandings with grace and humour, this play about mending hearts, and the bonds of family, will resonate with both young and old!

Harry Sullivan hasn’t seen his son Drew in thirteen years, and now Drew is coming to Harry’s Saskatchewan ranch for a visit. Mending Fences tells the story of two men who are too stubborn to give in to feelings of the heart, and the woman next door who sets out to change that.

Anna Silvija Broks (Looking, The Long Weekend, Lunenburg), who our audiences will fondly remember as Stella in last year’s Meet My Sister, returns to the Globus stage as Gin, the warm but no-nonsense neighbour of Harry Sullivan. Globus’ Artistic Producer James Barrett (Screwball Comedy, Buying the Moose, Funny Farmers, Real Estate) plays Harry, the gruff small-town cattle farmer who has come up against some hard times. Rounding out the trio is newcomer to the company Ryan Sheedy who tackles the character of Drew, a son struggling to connect with his estranged father.

“To mark our 20th year of producing professional theatre here in the Kawartha Lakes we have extended our season. It is really exciting to be kicking off so early this year,” explains Sarah Quick, “and we knew a Norm Foster play would be the perfect way to do it. It will be a fun, busy and celebratory way to start off what is going to be a great year of theatre here at the LAB!"

If you’re planning a visit to Bobcaygeon this May, come see Mending Fences on stage from May 10 to 20! Enjoy a delicious 3-course dinner here beforehand or just come for the show. Tickets can be purchased online at www.globustheatre.com or by calling the Globus Theatre box office at 705-738-2037.
