Municipal Election 2026: Get to Know Your Candidates

Municipal politics may not always attract the same attention as provincial or federal elections, but the decisions made around the municipal council table often have the greatest impact on our everyday lives. From roads and infrastructure to property taxes, economic development, community services and future growth, municipal decisions help shape the communities where we live, work and do business.

With the opportunity to elect a new Mayor and our Ward 3 Councillor, the Fenelon Falls & District Chamber of Commerce wanted to help residents learn more about the candidates and where they stand on issues that matter to our community.

Rather than hosting a traditional All Candidates Meeting where only a few people can attend, the Chamber invited our members to submit questions for the candidates. All seven Mayoral and Ward 3 candidates were offered the opportunity to respond to the questions and provide a short introductory video.

The written responses and videos are available on https://explorefenelonfalls.com/candidateqa for you to review at your convenience. This allows time to compare perspectives and consider each candidate’s priorities. Responses are presented in alphabetical order by last name within each candidate category, Mayor followed by Ward 3 Councillor, and have been shared as received, without editing.

Voting opens on Friday, October 16, at 9 a.m. and closes on Monday, October 26, at 8 p.m. Eligible voters can cast their ballots online or by telephone, with in-person voting assistance available.

For information about voting, voter registration and election procedures, visit the City of Kawartha Lakes Municipal Election website.

Take the time to get informed, consider the issues and make your voice count in shaping the future of Kawartha Lakes.

NOTE: The Chamber remains non-partisan and does not endorse candidates. Our goal is simply to encourage informed participation in the democratic process.
