Tourism Ambassador Team Attends Their First Show at The Grove Theatre

On July 17th, our Tourism Ambassador Team had the opportunity to attend their first-ever show at the Grove Theatre! The team was there for the opening night of A Tribute To The Beatles; a celebration of one of the most influential bands in music history. The performance featured classics such as Let It Be and Yesterday, along with a few deeper cuts for longtime fans.

After the show, we asked them a couple of questions to get their thoughts on the performance and their experience at the Grove.

Here’s what they had to say:

What was your first impression of The Grove Theatre?

Alexis: The theatre was utterly mesmerizing. The connection to nature created such a captivating environment, especially through the lighted pathway that guides you through the forest to the stage.

Chloe: I thought it was very pretty and captivating. Particularly because of the theatre being in the forest.

Shelby: At first, I was blown away! It’s so amazing that we have an outdoor stage right here in Fenelon Falls that’s nestled between the trees. It also made me feel very proud to be a part of this community; I chatted with some people before the show started, and you could feel the excitement and giddiness everywhere!

What was your favourite part of The Beatles Tribute Performance?

Alexis: Having a tribute to a band so universally known and loved was a great opportunity to create a connection between people, regardless of their age or background. Additionally, educating the audience throughout the show with the band’s timeline of events further immersed us into the performance.

Chloe: I really liked it when the performers would be singing while walking through the path between the seating areas. It made me feel very close to the show, and it was also a fun surprise to see the actors coming from behind the seating. To be more Beatles-specific, I loved the set in the second half; it was very intricate.

Shelby: I loved how each performer was able to play a bunch of different instruments and switch things up. It wasn’t just one person on guitar or drums; it was almost everyone! The wide variety of instruments, songs and staging really showed how talented the cast was. I also loved the outfit changes after the first act!

What kind of shows would you like to see at The Grove Theatre in the future?

Alexis: I’d love to see a tribute to post-punk bands like The Cure or The Smiths as an attempt to bring different demographics to The Grove Theatre.

Chloe: I would like to see more musical tributes for performers like Radiohead and Jeff Buckley.

Shelby: I’d be overjoyed if there were a tribute to One Direction since they’re my favourite band. It would be interesting to see how other musicians perform their songs (since they’re mainly pop) and what the set design could look like. It would also be great to sing their songs with a big group of people!

It’s safe to say our Tourism Ambassadors had a great time at the Grove and are already looking forward to their next visit!
