The Community Foundation Of Kawartha Lakes Launches New Social Sustainability Fund to Support Grassroots Project
Kawartha Lakes, ON — The Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes is pleased to launch the Social Sustainability Fund (SSF)—a new funding opportunity that supports innovative, community-based initiatives improving social well-being across the City of Kawartha Lakes.
The SSF is designed to seed projects that fill local service gaps, test new ideas, and build long-term capacity in the non-profit sector. Eligible organizations may apply for funding to support initiatives that focus on:
Poverty Reduction & Housing Supports
Food Security & Nutrition Supports
Mental Health, Wellness & Community Belonging Supports
Equity, Inclusion & Diversity Supports
Seed funding for this program was generously provided by the City of Kawartha Lakes to support a new approach to local community investment and social development. “This fund reflects the Foundation’s commitment to investing in sustainable, community-led solutions,” said Carissa Ferguson, Program Administrator at the Community Foundation. “We’re excited to support organizations that are developing bold, locally driven approaches to building stronger, more connected communities.”
Applications opened May 23, 2025 and will close on June 25, 2025. The Foundation encourages proposals that are collaborative, measurable, and focused on lasting impact.
