The Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society is Hosting Two Great Upcoming Events

The annual Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society Plant Sale is back and promises to be a wonderful day for gardeners, plant lovers, and the community alike! Join us Saturday, May 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., rain or shine, at the beautiful Maryboro Lodge, 50 Oak Street, Fenelon Falls.

Whether you are refreshing your garden beds or searching for something new, there will be a wide variety of reasonably priced plants (CASH ONLY) to suit every garden style and space. Our dedicated volunteers have been hard at work harvesting and preparing plants, and knowledgeable gardeners will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and offer helpful advice.

Beyond the plants, visitors can browse an assortment of handmade goods from local vendors, making it the perfect opportunity to find something unique while supporting local artisans.

Adding to the charm of the day, talented local musicians will fill the air with live music as you explore everything this year’s plant sale has to offer. And while you shop, be sure to enjoy a selection of food items and delicious goodies available for purchase.

Come early for the best selection and enjoy a fun-filled day celebrating gardening, community, and local talent at the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society Annual Plant Sale! Please visit www.backyardbuzz.ca for more information.

Vermicompost, Compost Extracts, and Compost Tea

This presentation will explore how compost and vermicompost enhance soil health, support thriving ecosystems, and promote stronger plant growth. We will discover the many benefits of vermicomposting, learn how to create a simple vermicompost system at home, and explore ways to transform compost into nutrient-rich liquid extracts and compost teas to maximize garden health and coverage.

Ryan Vieira is a local worm farmer dedicated to upcycling food waste from nearby restaurants into high-quality soil amendments for local gardeners. Through farmers’ markets and plant sales, Ryan offers vermicompost, vermicompost extracts, composting worms, and home vermicomposting systems—helping gardeners turn household food waste into valuable nutrients for their gardens. With five years of experience, Ryan continues to grow his passion and hopes to expand his services by offering compost tea and liquid vermicompost extract applications to local gardens.
