Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment now open for the fall 2025 training recruitment class

Kawartha Lakes – Have you been looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you enjoy the camaraderie that comes with working on a team? If so, we have an amazing opportunity for you!

Help protect your community from fires and other hazards by applying to become a volunteer firefighter for Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service (KLFRS) today.

The Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Application for the fall 2025 Recruitment Class is now open. To learn more about the application process and what’s involved, visit our Fire Recruitment page.

The following stations are recruiting volunteer firefighters:

  • Station 5 – Dunsford

  • Station 14 – Woodville

  • Station 15 – Kirkfield

  • Station 16 – Carden

  • Station 18 – Kinmount

  • Station 19 – Coboconk

  • Station 20 – Burnt River

  • Station 22 – Fenelon Falls

  • Date: Monday June 9, 2025

  • Time: 7pm to 8:30pm

  • Location: 16 Monroe Street, Kirkfield

Station 16 – Carden

  • Date: Tuesday June 17, 2025

  • Time: 7pm to 8:30pm

  • Location: 12 Lake Dalrymple Road, Sebright

Station 5 – Dunsford

  • Date: Tuesday June 17, 2025

  • Time: 7pm to 8:30pm

  • Location: 48 Community Centre Road, Dunsford 

Station 18 – Kinmount

  • Date: Tuesday June 17, 2025

  • Time: 7pm to 8:30pm

  • Location: 24 Majestic Street, Kinmount

Volunteer firefighting is a great way to learn valuable skills, give back to your community and earn extra income. You’ll join a team of likeminded individuals, learn transferrable life skills and help promote a safe community by upholding the three lines of defense against fire.

Please note that if the station you’re looking to volunteer at is not listed above, it’s because they currently have a full contingent of volunteer firefighters and they are not currently recruiting. Be sure to check back in the winter because those stations may be recruiting again for the spring 2026 Recruitment Class.
