The Caring and Connecting Kawartha Lakes Initiative

Submitted by Caleb Kim

Hello there!

The arrival of the second wave of COVID-19 has led many retirement/long-term care homes to adopt stricter lockdown regulations to prevent infection of their residents. As a result, many residents haven't been able to have family and friends visit, which can make this an incredibly lonely and depressing time.

As a word of kindness can go a long way, I am organizing The Caring and Connecting Kawartha Lakes initiative, which invites you to write letters to older residents in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

If you're interested to participate as a pen pal, all you have to do is:

1. Compose a letter on your computer (instructions/suggestions for writing are included in the form below). You can draw/paint, write poetry/jokes, or include anything that you think may bring a smile to a resident's face!

2. Upload it to the appropriate section of the form linked in this post.

Whether you are looking for a social distancing-friendly volunteer opportunity or simply want a meaningful way to spend your time, I encourage you to participate to make a positive impact on residents in lockdown. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at caringandconnecting.ckl@gmail.com
