snapd Delivers a Virtual Canada Day Experience When the Country Needs it Most!

Submitted by Dan MacPherson on behalf of snapd

With the cancellation of all Canada Day Fireworks festivities due to COVID-19, snapd is planning an exciting initiative that will deliver an innovative and uplifting experience for Canadians to collectively enjoy from a safe distance. Utilizing their Augmented Reality platform, the media tech company has created a virtual fireworks experience that will give people throughout the country something special to commemorate Canada Day right from the comfort of their own backyard, balcony, or living room.

Building off of the momentum from their Victoria Day Fireworks where over 38,000 Ontarians joined the fun, local municipalities, businesses, and charitable organizations have been quick to hop on board to participate in the Canada Day event. Each community will be geo-fenced to allow for local support within a national program: “We’ve seen tremendous support from communities across the country for this initiative” said Daniel Ramlogan, Chief Strategy Officer at snapd. “It was a natural extension for us to do our part by connecting local neighbourhoods for the holiday and setting the stage for engagement through augmented reality as our communities reopen.”

The experience will showcase a number of unique and memorable activities that families can enjoy throughout the day culminating with a spectacular virtual fireworks display that will feature Canadian astronaut, Chris Hadfield who will lead the final countdown at 9:30pm EST. People can access the innovative Canada Day experience by downloading the snapd HUB app on their mobile device.
