Notice of a Public Meeting

To consider an Amendment to 18 Zoning By-laws to implement regulations for cannabis production and processing facilities.

Take Notice That the Planning Advisory Committee, on behalf of the Council of the City of Kawartha Lakes, will hold an electronic participation Public Meeting on:

Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 9am

The proposed Zoning By-law Amendments would introduce regulations that permit, subject to conditions, the production and processing of cannabis in agricultural and industrial zones. The proposed amendments consist of new definitions pertaining to cannabis production and processing and formally introduces these uses into agricultural and industrial zones. Separation distances from sensitive land uses are also proposed.  

The Amendments are city-wide.

Any Person may participate in the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation in respect of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendments. At the meeting, presentations that would take longer than five minutes should be presented in written form and summarized verbally. All submissions will be considered.

Kawartha Lakes City Hall is temporarily closed to the public to help stop the spread of COVID-19. While the public is not able to attend Planning Advisory Committee meetings in-person, there are several ways in which the general public can provide submissions to the Members of the Planning Advisory Committee for the March 10, 2021, meeting. If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Council of the City of Kawartha Lakes to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (‘LPAT’), but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Kawartha Lakes before the proposed zoning by-law amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Kawartha Lakes before the proposed zoning by-law amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the LPAT unless, in the opinion of LPAT, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.

Notification If you wish to be notified of the decision of the City of Kawartha Lakes on the Zoning By-law Amendments, you must make a written request to the City of Kawartha Lakes by providing your name and address by sending such request to the address provided below.
