This being the week of International Women’s Day, the Kawartha Lakes Culture and Heritage Network (CAHN) is proud to feature Beth (Sinyard) Hart, and to have Beth on our Board of Directors for 2021/22.

CAHN provides opportunities for communication, education, outreach, and coordination of resources and efforts that serve both the members and the community at large in the City of Kawartha Lakes. CAHN is honoured to have Beth and her experience in heritage is invaluable to this area. If you have any questions for Beth, please contact her at sinyardbeth@gmail.com.

Beth was born in Toronto but moved to Aurora when she was eleven and spent the next forty-one years there. She earned a Certificate in Historical/Natural Interpretive Services at Seneca College in King City (where she was on the Dean’s Honour List) and was hired as Curator of the Newmarket Museum (later renamed the Elman W. Campbell Museum), retiring after thirty-five years.  She earned a BA at York University in Toronto with a Major in Fine Art (History).  She also embarked upon a Specialist Degree in Egyptology at the University of Toronto but had to leave her studies due to increased workload at the museum; however, not before being named to the Dean’s List.  She is now enrolled in a Distance Learning programme toward a Certificate in Egyptology at the University of Manchester.

Beth has been a member of the Ontario Archaeological Society, the Society for the Study of Egyptian Antiquities, the Archaeological Institute of America, and the American Research Center in Egypt.  Through the Elman W. Campbell Museum, Beth was able to engage with the Ontario Museum Association, the Ontario Historical Society, and the York Durham Association of Museums and Archives, which she served as President twice.  She has also been the Treasurer of the York Simcoe Amateur Astronomers.

Beth married Athol Hart in 2017 and joins him in heritage and Town Crying pursuits.  In 2017 they moved their heritage efforts to the beautiful City of Kawartha Lakes.

Please feel free to contact any of the Directors of CAHN by email ckl.heritage.network@gmail or by contact Beverly Jeeves at 905-431-5394.  Memberships of CAHN are Corporate $180 per year; Organization $50 per year; Individual $30; Senior $25; and Students $15.  Together we “CAHN” strengthen our culture and heritage sectors in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
