The Garden Project: Fallsview Gardens

Fenelon Falls has the word right in its name, so there is no wonder the Horticultural Society works hard on beautifying our town’s shining attraction: the Falls!

The Fallsview Gardens, across the lock from the Terrace Gardens, feature the Lock Garden, the Slope Garden and last but not least, the Gorge Garden! Whether you are watching the boats, on a walk around town, or touring all our beautiful gardens - this is a site you do not want to miss!

The Lock Garden (located by the road) reflects all the community involvement in beautifying Fenelon Falls.

Initially, this garden was designed by Linsey Tufts of Roots to Bloom. It contains a host of beautiful plants including hydrangeas, dwarf lilac, spirea, weigela, grasses and several  perennials too.

Another community member, Brian Jackett, donated time and material to complete the  beautiful stonework in this garden. One section of this large garden is scheduled for a refresh by the FFHS this Fall or next Spring!

The Slope Garden

The FFHS reclaimed the Slope Garden three years ago, you can find it downhill from the historic Bell!

This garden contains all native plants from the Conservation Authority and Judy Kennedy, showcasing even more community involvement in Fenelon Falls. You know what is so cool about the Slope Garden? It self-seeds and is allowed to grow naturally, meaning it is a great home for native wildlife to thrive!

The Gorge Garden

Last but not least, we have the Gorge Garden. Four years ago, the FFHS tore out the overgrown junipers in the Gorge Garden and replaced them with a mix of perennials and shrubs.

Now, this lovely garden is home to lilacs, grasses, roses, smoke bushes and sedum. See if you can spot them all on your next tour? All the gardens around town are looking as  beautiful as ever this time of year.

The Garden Project team is so enthused by all of the positive feedback from our community.  Now that all the gardens around town have signage, completing a tour is easier than ever!  Keep in touch with the project - there are very exciting things coming your way!
