Introducing: Daytripper Tattoo

When a new business opens in town, I always make it a priority to support them. As many like to say, small and local businesses are the “backbone of the economy,” and I know this new business will be no different. A tattoo shop is opening up in Fenelon Falls, on 36 Colbourne St, providing a great opportunity to get the perfect tattoo that you’ve been dreaming of!

I got in touch with the owner, Tyler Loube, and asked him a few questions about himself and his passion.

How did you get started?

“In grade 7, I used to charge $1 to draw on kids at recess - which eventually got me in trouble with the principal. After being told for most of my childhood that tattooing was not a career that would be acceptable, let alone enough to support a family, I spent 8 years in the Graphic Design industry. Although art-related, it wasn't the right fit, and I sought out my true calling as a Tattoo Artist.”

How long have you been in this business?

“I have been tattooing now for over a decade and have always had a passion for art.”

What made you decide to move to Fenelon Falls and open a business here?

“Before Fenelon Falls, my family and I were living in the Niagara Region where I was working alongside inspiring coworkers at Carousel Tattoo & Barbershop. While still living in Niagra, we would come up and visit Fenelon Falls to visit my brother-in-law and his partner. After about 15 years of visiting, my wife and I decided to move here to a smaller town with a simpler lifestyle. Once we were shown our now house by a local realtor, Shawn Wray, we knew it would be our forever home.”

What would you say your tattoo shop is about?

“We craft tattoos rooted in strong artistic principles, ensuring that your design will age as gracefully as you do. We enjoy collaborating on projects with clients to create more of a deeper connection to the art. It is so important to us that our shop is a safe space for all! We want you to walk in and feel like you are exactly where you belong.”

Your shop name is very unique, what made you decide on your ‘trademark’?

“Having a strong community focus is important to us and is partly why we chose the name we did. You're not just coming to get a tattoo, you're spending the day in our village. Go grab a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants, check out the antique shops/ artisans/ craft stores, or grab a coffee down the street! We want our clients to feel that comfort that we have felt from Fenelon Falls and small-town life.”

Any final words?

Opening Daytripper Tattoo with my wife Lindsay has been such an honour. Downtown Fenelon Falls has been so welcoming and the feedback from the community, (especially at the Country Living Show) has been overwhelmingly wonderful!”

Come for a tattoo, stay for the trip at Daytripper Tattoo!

In Fenelon, we love to see local businesses supporting local businesses! New acronym alert: #LBSLB
