Celebrate Fall Harvest at Annual Kawartha Farmfest Event

Gather with friends and family on Saturday October 12, 2024 to get outside and tour local farms from 10am to 4pm during the return of the ever-popular Kawartha Farmfest.

This annual fun and interactive one-day, self driving tour offers the opportunity for participants to visit host farms for a chance to see how local food is grown and produced, visit Farmers Markets and participate in a variety of hands-on farm activities and attractions.

Visitors will experience life on the farm; meet a variety of farm animals, including cows, horses, pigs, and chickens. Try spinning yarn, collecting eggs and enjoy walking through farm pastures and fields. Get lost (and found) in corn mazes, take a wagon ride out to fields, ride a pony, visit a petting zoo or see pumpkins growing in fields. Food and refreshments are also available on some farms as well as at the Farmers Markets and participating attractions. Additional fees may apply.

“Farmfest is a perfect activity for the whole family,” says Kim Callaghan, Kawartha Lakes Agricultural Development Officer. “There’s something for every age group, and it’s a great day to spend touring the area, learning about food and local farms. As it’s the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, Kawartha Farmfest is a unique activity to attend with family or friends.”

New for 2024, The Roost Farm has joined the tour, and is excited to celebrate the grand opening of their farm store. Other hosts will offer activities that include children’s crafts, guided tours, animal visits and more. Many locations will also have farm produce, meats, and products for sale.

Tickets are $5 per person, and children 14 and under are free. Tickets include admission to all farm sites on the tour as well as a discount ice cream coupon from Kawartha Dairy for use on event day.
