From the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society
Our upcoming monthly meeting, following the “Spring Into Gardening” plant sale weekend, concerns a topic every gardener wants to know about! On Monday, May 29th at 7:00 P.M., come to the Senior Citizens Club of Fenelon Falls (58 Murray Street) to discover How to Tackle Weeds and Invasives In Your Garden! (But Richard wanted the title to be: “So many weeds . . . so little time.”!)
Richard Dickinson, co-owner of The Wild Garden in Cannington, will be coming to speak to us. His training in horticulture and his specific background in native plants and ecological communities will be invaluable, especially at this time of the year when everything is growing so quickly.
Richard says the bane of every gardener is having to contend with unwanted plants - weeds. His presentation will focus on common garden weeds: their biology, seed viability and their control. In addition, there will be a brief discussion of the main invasive plants facing the Ontario landscape - today and tomorrow. Please bring your problem weeds to the meeting or submit a photo in advance so that Richard can make the discussion more interactive.
