Haliburton Kawartha Maple Syrup First Tapping

We had a great turn out for our First Tapping event at the Schalk Family Maple Farm home of Hungry Bear Maple Syrup. The "Hungry Bear" name comes from an incident where a bear went around to all their aluminum pails, about 60, and crushed them for fun!! If it ain't squirrels chewing holes in lines, its bears crushing pails, syrup making can be a struggle! I have attached a couple of photos of the event, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the lovely spread of food that Laurie and Andrew Schalk graced us with!
Thank you to MPP Laurie Scott and the staff from Jamie Schmale's office for attending and supporting our event. And a very big thank you to the Schalk family for hosting us this year.
