Lots Coming to the Loft

The Loft (the new youth centre in Fenelon Falls) just completed its first full school year. 

Lots of youth are attending the after-school program—more than double the increase over the previous year.

The program activities at the Loft are outlined in the attachment. Some of the youth comments:

“The loft is such a fun place for all folk to be themselves.” 

“The loft provides a safe space for kids who cannot go home instantly after school to hang out”

“It provides a way for kids to socialize with new people and make new friends.”

"I think The Loft is a great space, and I’ve made so many more connections since coming here; I really love it!" 

“Some communities, like BGC, take an incredible approach in terms of hearing out the ideas of youth. They do not discourage children and teenagers when they think big but rather invest in their ideas with supportive feedback, strategic aid, and the impactful presence and contributions of various volunteers!”  

"We made a pact to come to the Loft till we graduate from high school!" 

The Loft is run by BGC Kawarthas, similar to its Warehouse program in Lindsay. Funding comes from a City grant and community donations—thank you, donors!
