Meet the Writers - Local Journalism Fundraiser
Fireside Publishing House is proud to present Meet the Writers, a fundraising event in support of the local news you trust — The Lindsay Advocate magazine and Kawartha Lakes Weekly newspaper.
Join us on the third floor of the Scotiabank building in downtown Lindsay, where guests will enjoy lively conversations, delicious appetizers from Olympia Restaurant included with admission, and the opportunity to connect directly with the people who bring our region’s stories to life.
The evening’s centrepiece will be a panel discussion featuring five of our writers — publisher Roderick Benns, lead editorial writer Nancy Payne, writer-at-large Geoff Coleman, reporter Robyn Best, and local historian Ian McKechnie — who will share their perspectives on what it means to cover local issues, highlight community voices, and sustain journalism in a changing media landscape.
The discussion will be moderated by Laurie Dillon-Schalk of the Kawartha Community Foundation, ensuring a thoughtful and engaging conversation. Following a relaxed 30–40 minute Q&A, guests will have ample time to mingle with the writers one-on-one.
By attending, you are not only enjoying a memorable evening, you are also helping support grassroots journalism in Kawartha Lakes.
