Share Your Favourite Childhood Memories at The Fenelon Falls Grannies for Granies’ Dare to Dessert Event
Did you have a favourite toy or doll? Did you whisper secrets to your doll? Did you have a teddy bear that you cuddled up with a night? Were you inspired by the Little Train That Could as it chugged up that steep hill? “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can”. On Saturday, October 18, you are invited to share that memory. The Fenelon Falls Grannies for Grannies are holding an event at the United Church, 123 Colborne St. There will be an interesting speaker on the significance of dolls, the history of dolls, including a brief look at dolls from other countries. All the while, listening to this speaker, the audience will be enjoying decadent desserts.....carrot cake, cheese cake, chocolate éclairs, lemon meringue tarts, butter tarts, along with tea and coffee. Then it is the audience's turn! Members of the audience will be invited to share their memories and even show their long treasured doll or toy, carefully preserved, or maybe just a little shabby and well-loved. Now it will be time to replenish our tasty desserts as we proceed with a Treasures Raffle. And what treasures!! An enamelled ostrich egg from Africa, a painting of a tiger cub, a whimsical Frog Prince for your garden, a painting by a local artist, Elizabeth Barrett, beer mugs from Germany (along with some Oktoberfest beer!)
Admission is by donation to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Tax receipts will be given for donations $20 or more. Don’t miss this event. 2-4 pm, Saturday, October 18, United Church.
