Passport to Christmas: Winners and Wrap-up
On behalf of the 36 participating Passport to Christmas (P2C) businesses, the Fenelon Falls Chamber of Commerce wants to say a huge thank you to everyone who filled out a passport. The weather was a bit frightful (crazy wind/snowstorms) this Christmas season so we can’t say how much it means that you came out and made Fenelon Falls your shopping and dining destination.
This was the 5th annual edition of the promotion and there were 318 eligible entries which is the 2nd highest number of entries. Taking into account double stamp weekends this accounts for around 1250 purchases!
Prize baskets were curated from donations by the participating businesses, a gift certificate donated by The Grove Theatre and 5 specialty P2C branded items created by Lynn from Snow N’ Sand. Cable Cable also donated a prize basket so there were six fantastic prizes to win with a retail value of over $1750.00. Congratulations to this year’s winners: Diane W., Judy H., Debra G, Michelle M, Al & Myrna H, and Sue S.
As the winners picked up their prize many shared how much they enjoy shopping local and how they look forward to Passport to Christmas each year. We are always overjoyed to hear how important supporting local is to our community. When you chose to purchase at a locally owned business, more money is kept in the community because locally-owned businesses often purchase from other local businesses, service providers and farms. Purchasing local helps grow other businesses as well as the local tax base.
