Pitch Days at the Colborne Street Gallery

The gallery is hosting Pitch Days 2024. These one-on-one meetings are a chance for artists to meet the gallery team, show and talk to us about their work, propose an exhibition idea, workshop, or special event, and have a relaxed Q&A together.

Participants will be able to sign up for 45-minute sessions. These sessions will include:

  • Set-up

  • Introductions

  • Pitch/presentation

  • Q&A with gallery staff

  • Pack-up

We’ll do our best to stick to our timeline to ensure all participants have equal amounts of time to present and chat.

Who?
Local artists from Fenelon Falls and the Kawartha Lakes Region
Our programming has always included a strong focus on local artists as we know our community is filled with talent. We also want to ensure artists in the area have a space to exhibit their work close to home.

Artists Outside Our Community
We have included artists from outside our community since we opened. It’s important to welcome a variety of artists to our space to learn from them, listen to their stories, and spend time with their work. It also gives our community an opportunity to experience work they may not have access to otherwise.

2SLGBTQ+, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and BIPOC
We are keen to hear from artists from the 2SLGBTQ+ community, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, and BIPOC artists, craftspeople, and leaders. The gallery is a place for everyone (it even says so on the front door!). We want to ensure we are seeking, learning, and working with everyone to ensure the gallery shows and supports artists from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups of people. This gives our visitors the chance to support and familiarize themselves with work they may not encounter outside of larger urban areas.

Artist Collectives and Groups
Are you a part of an artist collective? Do you and your colleagues have a similar approach to art making? Have you always wanted to have a show together? Groups should have a clear show concept including a statement that can be presented to the gallery staff as well as potential work selection of up to 5 artworks/images from each participant. For presentation purposes you can bring in examples of work and send us images with information (title, date, medium, size, price) ahead of time.

Community Groups
Does your community group have an idea for a special event, workshop, or talk? Sign up and pitch us your idea.
Don't fit into any of these previous categories or labels? No worries, come anyway. Sign up and pitch us your idea.

We know artistic practices vary and we love that. We appreciate it when you are able to provide us with an Artist Statement, Bio, CV and/or a clear idea of what you are thinking. Feel free to include links to your website and social media.

Some additional items to consider for your pitch (not all will apply to everyone):

  • Collective/Group Name

  • Preferred date and time

  • When you need the space; do you need access for set-up and/or take down?

  • Access to the kitchen, fridge, flatware, glasses, dishes, cutting boards, serving platters, etc.?

  • Do you need a liquor permit?

  • A/V requirements?

  • Do you need folding chairs for a seated audience?

  • Special lighting?

  • Please feel free to add any further details or questions you have.
