PROBUS Club of Bobcaygeon Area Goes to Jail

No, it isn’t what you think. On Thursday Nov. 23, 17 members of the Probus Club Bobcaygeon Area, enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Pie-Eyed Monk Restaurant in Lindsay. Following lunch, the group spent a couple of hours on a guided tour of the Kawartha Lakes Museum and Archives, which is located at the old Victoria County Jail.

Barb Doyle, the Managing Director at the museum, guided and commented with great expertise on the current exhibits. She also showed and spoke in detail about the old jail building itself, including mentions of some of the jail’s more notorious guests and included in her comments, references to some of the jail’s “specters”.

At least one of our members, Gary Colgan, managed to misbehave to the extent that he needed “correction”. And yes, some of the cells were very small.
