SPARK Photo Festival Reception

HUW MORGAN

DECAY AND RENEWAL

A SPARK Photo Festival Exhibition
Saturday, April 1 – Sunday, April 30, 2023
Join us at the Colborne Street Gallery for the reception on Thursday, April 13th from 5-7pm with Artist remarks beginning at 5:30pm

Morgan’s work is a metaphor for life, a reflection of birth, growth, decay, and renewal. He is attracted to the way photography can convey stories and emotions related to beauty in decomposition paired with the hope of rejuvenation. His process involves snapping photos during long drives and nature-based hikes. Once back in the studio, Morgan reviews his collection of images looking for commonalities. From there he defines an idea, organizes the photographs into various thematic groups, then returns to nature in search of locations that support, challenge, and expand his initial assessment; always considering and refining along the way.

The SPARK Photo Festival is a celebration of photography. April 2023 is the 10th Anniversary of SPARK with photographic exhibits popping up in locations throughout Peterborough city and county, Northumberland county and the City of Kawartha Lakes regions. Visit their website for information on exhibitions, artists, openings, and more: sparkphotofestival.org
