Summer Company Program Applications Now Open

Kawartha Lakes – It’s that time again– the Kawartha Lakes Summer Company Program is set to open its applications for the 2025 summer season. Aspiring young entrepreneurs in the City of Kawartha Lakes are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity to launch their own business this summer.

The Summer Company program provides students between the ages of 15 and 29 with the support and mentorship needed to start and run their own businesses. The program offers financial assistance, training, and hands-on guidance from local business experts, helping participants turn their entrepreneurial ideas into successful ventures.

"Starting a business can seem intimidating, but the Summer Company program offers young entrepreneurs the tools and support they need to succeed," said Sandy Greenberg, EDO of Small Business Programs at the municipality. "It's a fantastic opportunity to gain real-life experience and build skills that will serve them in whatever they choose to do in the future."

The program provides participants with a grant worth up to $3,000 to help get their businesses off the ground. In addition, participants will receive mentoring from experienced business owners, join training sessions on business planning and marketing, and enjoy networking opportunities within the Kawartha Lakes business community.

Key Program Benefits:

  • Up to $3,000 in seed funding to start a business

  • One-on-one mentoring from local business professionals
