Update on Fenelon Falls’ HGTV Hometown Takeover Application

In the fall of 2025, a small group of Fenelon locals, led by resident Nancy McCullough, came together to create Fenelon Falls’ Submission for HGTV’s inaugural Canadian season of Home Town Takeover. It was a nationwide search, looking for one small town to receive a life-changing makeover. While the winning town has not yet been announced, McCullough received word that Fenelon Falls was not chosen for this year’s production, but could be a potential candidate for season 2. The HGTV Producers loved the video application and thought it was one of the best submissions they received!

McCullough would like to thank everyone who was involved in putting together the application. She expressed, “It was a lot of collaborative work by everyone, and it couldn't have been done without everyone's input.”

She also thanks everyone in the community who came out for the town video ‘Shout Out’, “Your love and excitement [were] felt and shared with everyone who was there.” The ‘Shout Out’ was a gathering on October 25th of 2025, to capture the town’s spirit and their support for the project. It served as the finale to the video application, or as McCullough described it, the “icing on the cake”. There were over 300 participants in attendance, including the Fenelon Fire Department and local Police. The video was given a special touch thanks to Julie & Doug Blanchard, who donated banners and letters spelling out “Erin and Ben (Hometown Takeover’s original hosts) please come to Fenelon Falls”.

McCullough also expressed her gratitude to the videographers whose work was included in the video application, as well as Chantal Soutar from the Fenelon Falls & District Chamber of Commerce, who edited the video.
