Fenelon Falls Got Heart

Submitted by Dana Bachman

Today, Saturday, November 28, was a beautiful sunny day. As I travelled around doing my errands in Fenelon Falls I was struck by what a big-hearted community we are. At Sobeys, a lady in a wheelchair was sitting beside the “Out” door collecting money for the Salvation Army. In a corner of the Sobeys parking lot, two young boys were waving plastic jugs of windshield washer fluid. Trentside Baptist church was offering windshield washer fluid fill up...for free! Not even asking for a donation.

When I went into the Red Apple they were collecting donations for the local Toy Drive. Driving down Water Street I saw Santa waving to youngsters in slowly passing cars while Santa Day volunteers were passing out treat bags. Santa’s outdoor workshop had been set up and decorated by the Horticultural society.

Aren’t we lucky to live in such a community with caring volunteers and generous local merchants? Proud to be part of that big warm-hearted Fenelon Falls. Not just the sun shining, the faces of volunteers and children lighting up our community.
