COVID-19 Cancellation Credits and Refunds

Submitted by Kawartha Lakes Community Development

In response to the Government of Ontario’s emergency declaration, and to help protect our clients and the public from COVID-19, all City of Kawartha Lakes recreation facilities, including recreation complexes, community centres, arenas, halls, parks, and swimming pools are closed until further notice.

City programs, including drop-in swimming and skating and fitness classes, are cancelled. The information below provides you with information regarding credits and refunds for cancelled programs.

Winter programs

If you were registered in a program running during the 2020 winter session, your account was automatically adjusted with a credit for any missed classes. This credit can be used to register for future programs.

Spring programs

If you registered for a program starting in the spring session (March or April), please note that these sessions have now been cancelled, and we will be providing full refunds.  If you registered online your refund will be processed directly back to the credit card charged.  If you registered for programs in person a credit will be applied to your account which can be used for a future program.  If you would like the credit refunded to you by cheque please emailscooper@kawarthalakes.ca.

How long will it take to receive my refund?

We appreciate your patience as we work to process the high volume of requests brought about by facility closures. Any urgent inquiries can be directed to scooper@kawarthalakes.ca.

What if I have a fitness membership with the City?

All pre-paid memberships will be extended for the duration that City of Kawartha Lakes facilities are closed.

Will monthly payments for my membership continue to be withdrawn from my account?

Effective March 16, 2020 monthly charges to credit cards were suspended and ongoing memberships were cancelled. When we resume operations you can call or come into our facility to reactivate your membership or alternatively you can email cmcguigan@kawarthalakes.ca to reactive your membership and monthly payments. A credit will be applied to your account for any missed time that was prepaid for during this closure.

What if I want to cancel my membership?

If you wish to cancel your membership, you can do so at any time by emailing cmcguigan@kawarthalakes.ca.

Rental contracts at City facilities

If the facility is still closed at the time of your facility booking, your rental contract will automatically be cancelled and all fees will be fully returned.  When we process the cancellation, we will contact you to ask if you would like a refund or credit on your account.  This credit can be used at a later date if you decide to rebook your event.  You can email facilitybooking@kawarthalakes.ca at any time to request a cancellation.
