Kawartha Co-op: Meet our Students & Join our Team!

Submitted by the Kawartha Works Community Co-operative

We are pleased to announce the hiring of our three new summer students at the Kawartha Works Community Co-operative (KWCC), funded by the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. The students will be working collaboratively on all the new and exciting projects sprouting up around town for the KWCC and its initiatives. All three students are studying in fields related to their specific positions, which will allow them to develop skills, knowledge and practical experience beneficial to their career and educational goals.  Does this sound like the right team for you? Read on! We are looking to fill our fourth CSJ position of Data Analyst.

Fortunately, the team was able to meet in person while socially distancing - equipped with masks - for a safe and exciting discussion about weeks to come. From left to right, Harmony McNish joins us as our Event Coordinator, Noah Latendre as our Fundraising Organizer, and Maddy Warlow as our Communication Specialist.

The KWCC is looking for our fourth CSJ position, Data Analyst, to be filled. Are you interested in helping us out with data collection for future projects, events and marketing strategies? Are you able to work collaboratively with a team in order to garner the best results? We are looking for someone to:

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide an ongoing report.

  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data set

  • And more!

As part of the CSJ funded program this year, all students have a professional mentor who can provide guidance and expertise about the position and field in general. This will help the students form stronger connections in the community while producing even more marketable skills in their fields. In addition, those on the KWCC team will benefit by working with many different community members with a large range of backgrounds in business, arts, marketing, communication, and more.

In order to apply, you must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
