$143,700 OTF Grant Helps Grow The Grove Theatre
In 2019, the Kawartha Works Community Co-op received a $143,700 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to build The Grove Theatre, the first-ever outdoor amphitheatre in Fenelon Falls. On Friday, MPP Laurie Scott and Tom Rowden, a volunteer with the Ontario Trillium Foundation, met with members of the group to hear about its ongoing construction and that when finished, how the beautiful stage will further bolster the vibrant arts and culture sphere of the Kawartha Lakes for many years to come.
City Council Presents Jim Armstrong With Barbara McArthur Memorial Award of Distinction
Jim Armstrong, all-round community animator, and Chair and Co-Founder of the Kawartha Works Community Co-op, was honoured with the Barbara McArthur Memorial Award of Distinction by the City Council on Tuesday, June 1.
Fenelon Arts Committee Sculpture Project The Scale Model Gift Program
The Fenelon Arts Committee (FAC) is happy to announce a new initiative in support of our current Sculpture Project: The Scale Model Gift Program. This unique opportunity offers donors the choice to take home a scale model of James C. Smith’ Portage or Susan Rankin’s River Grove with a minimum donation of $2,000.
The Grove Theatre Update: Landscaping, Planting and Beautification Efforts have Begun!

Some exciting updates are happening with the new Grove Theatre in Fenelon Falls! Landscaping, planting and beautification has begun. We want to extend a huge thank you to the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society who have volunteered their efforts with a contracting team to take on landscaping and planting at the outdoor amphitheatre. With the help of a $15,000 grant from the Fenelon Legacy CHEST Fund contributed by the City of Kawartha Lakes for the landscaping, the development of the Grove Theatre continues to progress throughout the fall season.

We have been overwhelmed with the positive response from the community and beyond – everyone is so excited about this project that will bring the arts to life in Fenelon Falls! It is a source of inspiration and happiness during these difficult times. Announcing: The Grove Theatre in Fenelon Falls

A stunning outdoor amphitheatre – the first ever in Fenelon Falls – will be home to The Grove Theatre, an exciting new summer festival of live performance. Created under the auspices of the Kawartha Works Community Co-operative (KWCC), with construction funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and additional support from members of the local community, The Grove Theatre has been conceived to engage and inspire both visitors and local residents. The annual festival will bring new vitality not only to Fenelon Falls itself but to the whole region of Kawartha Lakes.

Kawartha Co-op: Meet our Students & Join our Team!

We are pleased to announce the hiring of our three new summer students at the Kawartha Works Community Co-operative (KWCC), funded by the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. The students will be working collaboratively on all the new and exciting projects sprouting up around town for the KWCC and its initiatives. All three students are studying in fields related to their specific positions, which will allow them to develop skills, knowledge and practical experience beneficial to their career and educational goals. Does this sound like the right team for you? Read on! We are looking to fill our fourth CSJ position of Data Analyst.
