FFHS Sunflower Contest Winners

The Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society wants to thank all who participated in our Sunflower Growing competition!!

At our Spring Plant Sale, attendees were given the opportunity to sign up for our free, FUN Sunflower Growing Contest. Participants were given a package of 5 seeds and they were to plant and nurture the seeds through the season. The contest was open to over 13 year olds and under 13 year olds and ended Saturday, September 23rd.

Here are the WINNERS!!

In the “Over 13 years old” category:

For the Tallest Plant: Nick Rensink
Nick’s winning plant was over 12 feet high and had 53 buds, more than 28 of which had opened!
For the Largest Flower: Rosemary McColeman
Rosemary’s flower stalk was 8 feet high and the diameter of the flower head was 12 inches!

In the “Under 13 Years old” category:

For the Tallest Plant: Charles and Finley Thomson
That’s a tall plant that these two boys grew - it’s over 12 feet tall!
For the Largest Flower: Clementine Jobin
Clementine’s flower stalk was over 8 feet tall and the diameter of the flower head was 8 inches.
