Summer At The Tourism Office

This summer has been filled with amazing stories and conversations, shared memories and experiences and meeting new people everyday at the office. Here are a few of our favourite summer memories and experiences from spending a summer at the tourism office!

Emma - Summer Tourism Officer
This summer I had the opportunity to meet people who had travelled to Fenelon Falls from all over. I heard the stories from people who travelled here by boats big and small, planes, trains, cars and even some people on bikes. For me this has always been my home, it was amazing to learn how many people travel here to see the community and experience the many things Fenelon Falls and the surrounding towns in the City of Kawartha Lakes have to offer. This summer I had the privilege of talking to many locals as well as visitors. I heard many stories about people's memories from living here their whole lives, and stories people remember from when they vacationed here as children.

Not only did I learn new things but I met people I wouldn't have anywhere else. There was one lady that I met who told me about some of the waterfalls north of here that I had not seen before. The same lady passed on her compliments to the town and how nice it was to be around kind and friendly people on a summer vacation. It was amazing to hear from others how much they enjoy their time in Fenelon Falls.

I too have very much enjoyed spending my summer in Fenelon Falls. I had the opportunity to meet new people, try out new restaurants and cafes, check out local art exhibits and sculptures and start my mornings overlooking the Trent Severn Waterway. Summer 2024 has been my best one yet! Before I head back to school I would like to say thank you to the Fenelon Falls Chamber of Commerce for this amazing opportunity and to the town of Fenelon Falls for the amazing memories.

Marylee - Chamber Manager
As we transition into fall at the Tourism/Chamber of Commerce Office it’s a great time to reflect on another summer in Fenelon Falls. It is a privilege to be able to welcome people here and it’s a special opportunity to share our love for Fenelon Falls. Whether it’s a visitor from across the globe or neighbouring community, locals enjoying a boat ride, event or attraction, travellers who stop instead of driving on through or a new resident; each connection is unique and interesting. We hear stories of generational cottagers, people returning to find their roots or those who found out about Fenelon Falls because of a tourism video on TikTok. This summer the new attraction at the Tourism Office was our giant chair. We often heard giggles and laughter as people climbed up for a selfie or group photo. Apparently the dismount can be a little tricky!

I am excited to report that our summer tourism team connected with over 2600 visitors from May to August and thousands more through our social media content. Although the summer students are on to their next adventures the Tourism/Chamber Office remains open year round so please stop by if you’re looking for information about Fenelon Falls or how to get connected to all the great things that happen here throughout the year.
