Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes proud to present the DOUG & MARY PERRY HIGHER EDUCATION FUND
With great pride and sense of honour, the past President and Co-Founder of the Community Foundation of Kawartha, Mike Perry has established the Doug & Mary Perry Higher Education Fund with the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes. In memory of his loving parents, Mike has launched this Fund intended to provide financial support and encouragement to graduates from the Fenelon Falls Secondary School, interested in a career in teaching.
First Dose, Walk-In Times Now Available in July For HKPR Residents Who Want COVID-19 Vaccines
If you have not yet received your first COVID-19 vaccine, new walk-in times at Health Unit clinics are designed with you in mind.
Starting this week, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit will be providing first-dose, walk-in times at its mass immunization sites in Cobourg and Fenelon Falls. The clinics are open to anyone who is 12 years of age and older and has not received a COVID-19 vaccine.
Public Consultation for Amendments to Kawartha Lakes Dock Encroachment Policy Closes July 30
Following Council’s direction in March 2021, Kawartha Lakes staff have been gathering the public’s input on the proposed amendments to the Dock Encroachment Policy. The amendments are being developed to provide staff with an appropriate framework to address a variety of ongoing concerns regarding private docks on municipal property, including: the overcrowding of docks, safe distancing from nearby roadways and maintaining the structural integrity of docks and their surrounding municipal infrastructure.
Attention: Cadets 9-12 years old and Cadets 13-18 years old!
Please be advised that our Navy League Cadet Program is still alive and waiting anxiously to return to the Fenelon Legion when COVID-19 is under control. But at this time, all in person training and recruiting is suspended until at least Feb 22, 2021, and at that time we will again evaluate the situation to see if we have to extend it even further.
Standby List Now Available for End of Clinic Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine
Area residents can now add their names to a standby list for COVID-19 vaccine doses that may be available at the end of one of the local health unit’s immunization clinics.
Starting Monday, June 28, residents of Haliburton County, Northumberland County and the City of Kawartha Lakes can visit the website of the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit to register to potentially receive a vaccination at the end of a clinic day.

The 18th Annual Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour in Support of A Place Called Home (APCH) Has Gone VIRTUAL Again!
Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 restrictions, APCH is unable to hold this annual group event in person. So, the Kawartha Classic event is going virtual for 2021! APCH is encouraging participants to safely walk, run, horseback ride, swim, kayak or cycle following government mandated rules, on or before August 28. There is no registration fee, however, anyone participating in an activity will be required to sign a waiver when they register. Those who wish only to donate do not need to register or sign a waiver.

$143,700 OTF Grant Helps Grow The Grove Theatre
In 2019, the Kawartha Works Community Co-op received a $143,700 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to build The Grove Theatre, the first-ever outdoor amphitheatre in Fenelon Falls. On Friday, MPP Laurie Scott and Tom Rowden, a volunteer with the Ontario Trillium Foundation, met with members of the group to hear about its ongoing construction and that when finished, how the beautiful stage will further bolster the vibrant arts and culture sphere of the Kawartha Lakes for many years to come.
Monthly Membership Meeting with the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society
On Monday, June 28th at 7 PM, the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society will be having their monthly membership meeting on Zoom!
Our speaker will be Heinke Thiessen, a retired landscape designer in Mississauga. She is very involved with horticultural societies and she will be taking us to Ireland!

The Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls has completed the annual Classic Car Draw for 2020 - 21. After a successful year of selling tickets on the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible, and selling out of tickets in May, the draw took place at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre on June 1st.
FENELON ARTS COMMITTEE SCULPTURE PROJECT THE FENELON FALLS RAIN GARDEN
The Fenelon Falls Rain Garden will soon feature two life-sized bronze canoe paddle figures participating in a portage thanks to the Fenelon Arts Committee (FAC) who successfully raised the funds needed for the project. The figures will create a dynamic procession through the park, a homage to the location’s history; a portage and gathering area of First Nations’ Peoples, the beginning of Fenelon Falls, forestry, logging, and its current use as a recreational park.
2021 Canada Day Celebration Cancelled in Fenelon Falls
Councillor Doug Elmslie, Canada Day Committee Chair, advises that current COVID-19 restrictions have resulted in the cancellation of Canada Day in the village again this year. Outdoor gathering limitations simply won’t accommodate the numbers of attendees.
St James Church Garden Collaborates on Food Bank Youth Project
St. James Anglican Church is excited to embark on a collaborative project with the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society to grow fresh produce in the Community Garden for the Food Bank. The church donated 7 raised beds in the Community Garden to be tended by dedicated youth from Langton Public School and Fenelon Falls Secondary School. Church members also volunteered time and donated plants to get things started.
FENELON ARTS COMMITTEE SCULPTURE PROJECT FUNDRAISING COMPLETE
The Fenelon Arts Committee (FAC) has successfully raised the funds needed for The Sculpture Project.
The FAC is happy to announce the funding needed for The Sculpture Project has been secured. The fundraising campaign began in 2020 and has raised over $50,000. Two works, Portage by James C. Smith and River Grove by Susan Rankin, will be mounted on limestone bases in the Rain Garden south of Maryboro Lodge: The Fenelon Museum, and will ultimately be on display as City art.
