Upcoming Seminar: The Essential Support Role hosted by ABLE
For parents caring for an adult son or daughter with disabilities, the right paid help can provide the support for a good life, along with respite for family. But how do you ensure the support you engage is providing what you and your family member really need? Janet Klees, Executive Director of Durham Family Resources, and a longtime advocate for families challenged by disability, will address this question on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Shiloh Christian Centre, in Fenelon Falls, at 7 pm. in a seminar called “The Essential Support Role: Interviewing, Hiring and Guiding Paid Workers.” The event is being hosted by ABLE, a local family support network. Shiloh Christian Centre is located at 183 County Road 8, 2 km west of Sobeys in Fenelon Falls.

Fenelon Falls Robotics Kicks Off Their Season
For the third consecutive year, the students at FFSS have been competing in FIRST Robotics, an international series of tournaments designed to encourage high school-aged teams to compete head-to-head on a special playing field with robots they have designed, built, and programmed. In conjunction with the Robotics course being offered at the school, and with the generosity of local sponsors, the Robotics Club has spent hundreds of hours designing, coding, creating, and testing their creation in preparation for this season’s upcoming competitions in Oshawa, North Bay, and Mississauga.

Meet and Greet with Fred Walker
Submitted by Anne Kulmula
Have you ever wondered what Tarot is really about, why it works, how it works? Reading Tarot cards has come a long way since being stereotyped as a fortune-telling item, to a tool that can be of great assistance in many areas of one's life. Perhaps you have a burning question about the direction your life is heading or need some clarification on decisions you are making or sometimes just a check-in with ourselves through this ancient system of understanding. To this end a Meet and Greet gathering will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at 1 pm at Curious, 10-B Water St. in Fenelon Falls.
Enjoying Winter?
Submitted by Marina Hodson
Regardless of whether you like winter or not, most of us agree that by the middle of February, spring would be welcomed. In fact, while January is considered the most depressing month of the year, I think it is not difficult to argue that February may be a close second. Snow has often lost its appeal, both literally and figuratively and no one is looking forward to another shortened gray day. The only welcome interruption prior to 2008 may have been Valentine’s Day, and that is, of course, dependent on having a special person or persons to share it with. So I for one welcome Family Day, not only as a day off but as a much-needed reminder of the beauty to be found and experienced in our wonderful and vast Province.
