Country Cupboard Introduces Door Service

Customers can now place orders online or over the phone for pick up and delivery to Fenelon Falls, Coboconk, and the Bobcaygeon areas. We have introduced this free service to give access to our products to those who have limitations with mobility, transportation, and time. We know it can be hard to make an extra stop with our busy lives or get into Fenelon when you don’t have transportation, or just to get out of the house if you have mobility issues, but we also know that people want to reduce waste, cost, and time, and we can do all of those things for you with this new service at Country Cupboard.

Kawartha Lakes Country Living Show Reschedules for June 2020
Mark your calendars — the 36th annual Kawartha Lakes Country Living Show has been rescheduled for June 19-21, 2020. This decision was made with the overall hope that our lives will have a sense of normalcy by then and based on the availability of the Fenelon Falls Community Centre.
The Country Living Show committee is taking every necessary precaution and continues to monitor our current situation amidst the global pandemic. Any advisement provided by government or health officials will be taken into account to ensure that the event can run safely and smoothly. The number one priority of the Fenelon Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Country Living Show committee is the safety of our vendors, visitors, and volunteers.
Celebrate Easter at Home and Win!
This year we have had to make changes to our community Easter Eggstravaganza event. While we are all at home trying to make the best of our new situation, we wanted to help entertain you from the comfort of your living room. On Thursday, April 9th, an Easter-themed activity package will be released in the Town Crier!
We also want to encourage residents and businesses to put up a picture of an Easter Egg in this window for passers-by to see. We look forward to seeing what everyone creates! By posting your window eggs or activity package creations on Facebook or Instagram with #ExploreFenelonFalls, you are eligible to win one of five $25 gift certificates to a local business of your choice!

This is an unprecedented time in our world. There is so much fear and uncertainty.
Mr. Rogers said "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”’ I remember this every day as I scroll through newsfeeds, listen to stories, and read news clips. It is all very frightening for so many people. Fear breeds and grows like wildfire as we’ve seen with food and supply hoarding all over the country. But the helpers are there, too. I have been gratified to see many people offering assistance to others, businesses taking extra steps to help seniors and offering delivery to those unable to venture out at this time.

Of course, there is so much information and it changes so rapidly, that it can be difficult to find out what the facts actually are. Well at the time of writing this is what we know and what it may mean for you.

We are privileged to have a strong business community, a variety of health care services, schools, churches, festivals, events, hard-working volunteers and of course beautiful scenery. So it’s no surprise during these unprecedented times that business owners and residents are stepping up to help neighbours and community members. In support of these individual efforts we launched #HeartForFenelon. The goal is to support our businesses, the community and to celebrate kindness. Medical Officer of Health Declares Community Emergency with COVID-19

The local medical officer of health is echoing today’s announcement by the provincial government to declare an emergency related to COVID-19. Due to this declaration, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health has activated the agency’s emergency response plan. This activation prompts local municipalities to set up their own emergency operation centres (EOCs) in order to move supports and resources in place for their communities.

The Salvation Army Fenelon Falls Food Bank thanks you for your continued support while we all do our part to #flattenthecurve. Items can be dropped off in the food bin at Sobey’s. Financial donations can also be made by phone 705-887-1408. Click read more for a list of their most needed items.

We want to thank everyone who came out for our Cupcake Days last weekend. Especially to our baker, Joanne, from The Little Pie Shack who baked 8 dozen delicious cupcakes. The donation box I’m am holding is full of money and we’ll let you know how much was raised when the Humane Society counts it. Thank you for helping the animals Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes because not every dog is as spoiled as ours.

Colborne Street Gallery presents La Chute by Cheryl Rondeau
“La Chute is a series of photographs that capture the gesture of falling in a variety of scenarios. Capturing a moment of collision wherein culminates the forces of gravity, balance, judgment, and fate. Using this gesture, I aim to build a space in which the viewer experiences a sense of anxiety, by evoking the body’s frailty and vulnerability, while simultaneously heightening its absurdity through serial repetition.”
La Chute will be displayed at the Colborne Street Gallery from April 1 - May 3, 2020, with an opening reception on April 18th from 3-5 pm.

Salvage Kings Coming to Fenelon Falls - An Update
A few weeks ago we shared that the History Channel show Salvage Kings is looking to come to Fenelon Falls to film their show that features salvage and demolition of a building in disrepair. We'd like to clarify that they are also looking for straight salvage opportunities as well! Maybe someone has a property full of stuff that's sitting vacant. Perhaps an old business is no longer operating, but all the goods are still inside just waiting to get cleaned out.
