What Shopping Local Means to Me

Now more than ever, the adage “Shop Local” is important to practice in order to maintain the vibrant community of Fenelon Falls. We asked some of Fenelon’s local businesses to tell us what “Shop Local” means to them as we head into the season of holiday shopping and gift-giving; read on to see what they have to say.

”For me, shopping locally means a nurturing a symbiotic relationship with my community - when customers choose to shop with me, I am able to turn around and support fun local events like Santa Day. I love giving back to this community, and feeling like I can make a difference in what makes it a special place to live. I have so many plans and ideas for ways I can give back to Fenelon in the future, and it will only be made possible if my business here can be sustained.”

-Dana Geyer, The Book Lady

”Shopping local means so much to me, not just as a business owner but a proud member of this community. Our village is so supportive and wonderful. Shop with confidence that your purchases are funnelling resources right back into the community. Whether it be sports teams, food banks, town beautification, or one of the many other local projects that make me hometown proud!”

-Brandy Watson, The Barn and Bunkie

“Shopping local means supporting a real community of people - an owner and their staff who are usually putting their money back into the community. These small businesses create communities that are more prosperous, connected, and unique.”
