Volunteer Effort Brightens up the Fenelon Bridge

Many spots in town - including the bridge over the falls - got a little brighter this past week after a huge collective effort from local volunteers worked to install and plant beautiful flower boxes and baskets around town.

Spearheaded by Julia Taylor and Marylee Boston on behalf of the Fenelon Falls and District Chamber of Commerce, the mission to beautify our community spaces relies on the volunteer efforts of a huge group of people. Julia and Marylee would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who pitched in to make this project come together this summer:

“My husband Joe and my brother Rob who showed up with an hour's notice in 30 degree weather to place the bridge planters.

Marylee from the Chamber and her husband Phil, Tim from the Colborne Street Gallery, Michael from the Chamber, and Joe again to hang the baskets you see at local businesses.

The Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society volunteers who planted the big ground planters, and Jackett Construction who showed up with a days notice to place them around town.

Emily from The Cow and Sow who is volunteering 3 days a week in the early morning to water the flowers, and a lovely young lady Madilyn who was hired by the Chamber to water the other days.

Marylee from the Chamber again, who had to do a bunch of coordinating and paperwork to bring it all together. Anna from Slices and Scoops who made a bunch of phone calls and did a bunch of coordinating.

Brandy from the Barn and Bunkie and her husband Bryan at G. Hart and Sons who own and take care of the tractor and trailer for the watering. Brandy deserves a standing ovation for all the years she has managed the downtown beautification portfolio for the Chamber- because it is a lot of work!

Plus all of the businesses who purchased the hanging baskets to support the Chamber's initiative for downtown beautification.”

This is your local Chamber and community at work to make Fenelon Falls so lovely. A huge thank you to all involved in this year’s village improvement efforts!
