The Royal Canadian legion Announces their Third Annual Literary Contest for Seniors
The restrictions in force respecting COVID-19 have impacted all our lives for almost a year. Many of us have much more time on our hands with no place to go or no one to visit. What better way to spend some of those hours than creating a poem, story or a biography of your life that might become a family treasure. Take heart Shakespeare wrote King Lear, Macbeth and Antony & Cleopatra during a plague lockdown in the early 1600’s hence you are in good company.
Our seniors 55+ have a lot of experience under their belt; have amassed considerable knowledge thus far in their journey through life and all have stories to tell. We invite you to showcase your skills and share your experiences, imagination and knowledge by participating in our third annual contest.
The contest covers four categories Poems, Short stories, Essays and Memoir (includes biographies, auto-biographies and travel writing). A little something for everyone. You may enter once in each category or choose one category of interest.
Registration forms and the rules of the contest will be available by contacting br238seniorsliterary@gmail.com starting March 1, 2021. All entries must be submitted tobr238seniorsliterary@gmail.com by 6:00 p.m., May 31, 2021 as only electronic submissions will be accepted.
Awards will be given to first, second and third place winners at a time and place dependent on current pandemic restrictions. The award is nice, the Community recognition rewarding, but the bragging rights are awesome!!
Flex your creative muscles, use your imagination, tickle your funny bone and share your talent. Help us spread the word with family and friends.
